The Vehicle Dimensioning System is a LiDAR-based measurement solution designed to visualize the dimensional and operational measurement data of vehicles through LiDAR units positioned on a gantry, a control box, and TCP/IP-based measurement software.

The system enables field teams, technical procurement units, and operations managers to evaluate device capacity, installation requirements, and the scope of software outputs.

System Scope and Operating Principle

The system operates on the principle of transferring measurement data received from the LiDAR units in the field to the industrial PC and software interface via the control box. Communication between the LiDAR laser area sensor and the PC is established through the TCP/IP protocol.

Thanks to this structure, measurement outputs can be examined in a live 3D view, and previous measurements can be displayed in the record list.

Field Installation Architecture

The single-lane installation architecture is based on three LiDAR units mounted on the gantry and a control box installed on the vertical gantry pole.The two side LiDAR units are positioned outside the lane markings, while the middle LiDAR unit is placed at the center of the lane on the horizontal beam.

Electrical Connections and Cabling

For each LiDAR unit, one power cable and one Ethernet cable are routed to the control box. For three LiDAR units, a total of six field cables are directed to the control box. From the control box to the central control room, one power cable and one Ethernet cable are routed.

Measurement Software and 3D View

The measurement software establishes TCP/IP communication between the LiDAR laser area sensor and the PC, enabling measurement data to be monitored through the interface. The software allows system outputs to be technically evaluated through the live measurement result screen, 3D view, vehicle measurement cards, and measurement records list screens.
